BETTER COTTON (BCI)

The BCI is a long-term multistakeholder initiative that develops and promotes good farm practices, allowing more cotton to be grown while reducing water and chemical use and protecting both working conditions and biodiversity. Farmers working as a part of the Better Cotton Fast Track Program use 20 percent less water than their traditional peers. BCI Cotton aims to reduce the environmental impact of cotton production, improve livelihoods and economic development in cotton producing areas, improve commitment to and flow of Better Cotton throughout supply chain, ensure the credibility and sustainability of the Better Cotton Initiative. BCI cotton farmers uses %10 less water and %30 less pesticide irrigation than comparison farmers. Women inclusion is higher in BCI cotton and eliminating child labor is a principle for farmers and producers.
